HackMIT is one of the nation's largest hackathons. Organized by MIT students and held on MIT campus in September, HackMIT brings together over 1,000 college students from around the world to hack over a 24-hour period.
The HackMIT organizing committee is a group of 20-30 MIT undergraduates dedicated to empowering students through technology and innovation. As a 2015 committee member, I helped brand HackMIT and design much of the event's advertisements, promotional items, and other necessary assets.
I drew some digital media for HackMIT's Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter posts. The theme was inspired by Keith Haring's work for its quirky and accepting nature.
We handed out many promotional items, or "swag," to all of our participants! I designed many of the swag items, including beanies, totes, lanyards, stickers, and t-shirts. For all of these items, I was also in charge of organizing the financial and logistical aspects of the process.
Overall, I am grateful to have joined the HackMIT team and to be a part of the marketing committee. Not only have I gained much experience in marketing and branding, but I have also gotten a chance to work with a diverse group of people, all of which I can call my friends. See you at HackMIT 2016!
